Denim Washing Information
1) Raw Denim/ Selvedge. We strongly recommend that if you are purchasing this category of denim to bear the following in mind. All raw denim has some amount of shrinkage (more in the length than the width), it is therefore advisable to buy raw denim jeans longer than you need. To get the best look from your jeans, wear them for at least 6 months before you wash them. This will achieve all those great characteristics that make a really personalised pair of jeans, for example creasing, moustaching, wallet impresions, pocket wear etc. If the jeans get a bit whiffy, just air them outside or pop them in the freezer overnight (honest; it kills all the bacteria). It also helps to wash them inside out with a mild detergent to lessen the bleaching effect. If your still not sure, please feel free to ring us on either of our shop numbers and our staff will be happy to assist.
EDWIN ED47 DRY EDWIN ED47 WORN
The pictures above and below show the same jeans. On the left, brand spanking new and on the right, after wearing for 14 months and washing 3 times.
As you can see the difference is amazing; note the creasing on the front and the wear on the knees. If you can persevere with your jeans and wear them as long as possible before washing, you can achieve a really personalised pair of jeans.
NUDIE REGULAR ALF DRY NUDIE R. ALF WORN
The jeans pictured above and below (owned by Tom), were worn for 9 months every day then washed 3 times. They are now 1 year old and looking great, every mark telling a different story.
Notice the wear on the back pockets from wallets, ipod, etc., and the worn area on the front. Also notice the repaired crotch (from trying to impress the chicks at Leeds Festival with his Michael Jackson impression).
FINALLY! IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH GIRLFRIENDS OR WIVES ABOUT
NOT WASHING YOUR JEANS, WE CAN RECOMMEND A GOOD SOLICITOR.
