Converse began in 1908 specialising in rubber galoshes. Eventually they started using this rubber to make sneakers. In 1920 the famous basketball sneaker was born, the "All Star". The intention of the shoe was purely for basketball but gradually they increased so much in popularity, everyone was wearing the iconic shoes. The Ramones wore them with their leather jackets and kicked off a Rock and Roll trend still vibrant today. Artists, Musicians and Skaters wore them and customised them truly making the shoes their own, making their trainers a celebration of expression and undoubtedly cool. Converse have celebrated their heritage with a new heritage range in the 1970s collection with a drop-in Lunarlon cushion and thicker sole unit.
